Rockstars - Glittery Gel Nails

I don't know about you but I'm not a fan of painting my toe nails but they always have to be done. That was until December 2013 as mumma's friend knows how to do gel nails, not just any gel nails - rockstars.
Rockstars are glittery gel nails which you can wear on either your toes or finger nails and normally last up to 6 weeks maybe even longer.
Today I had mine redone for the second time; the first time I had them done I had a burgundy colour put on, the second time was gold and today I decided to go completely out of my comfort zone and have pink (I know right, shocker!)
In the salon you would normally pay roughly £35 to have rockstars done but as I had a family friend do them mum and I get discounts so we only pay about £15 for them, yay!

Anyway this is what they look like in pink

Mum also has them done, she recently had hers done in blue

So what do you think?
are rockstars something you would get done?

March Beauty Favourites

It is now the end of March and I finally get to do my first 'Favourites' post which I have to admit I'm kinda excited about. Any-who let's get straight to it.

First up is Beauty and Hair Care(ish) and couple a few of these were rediscoveries, many of them are my everyday holy grails and some are brand spanking new. So I recently decided spring is the time I'm going to start to wear more lip colours and going through my very small make-up collection I came back across my first lipstick Maybelline ColourSensational Sweet Pink 132 (which is still available in stores, I checked). It's that cliche your lips but better colour. I hate to say it but it really is and it has a satin finish so your lips get have a slightly glisten after applying it, will be getting a lot of use this spring. Whilst in my minuscule lip collection I pulled out my Bourjois ColourBoost in Fuchsia Libre. It was one of the first lip crayons in the drugstores after Clinque's Chubby Sticks and most bloggers/YouTuber's are all fans of the Colour Boost's (if I'm being honest that is the reason why I went out to get them in the first place). Anyway it's a lovely brightish berry pink and if your looking to start wearing brighter colours on your lips (like me) then this is perfect! Now if you've been reading my blog for a little bit then you'll know my parents so generously gave me a Mac Palette for christmas with 6 shadows with it and this month I finally gave in and added to the palette with a cult classic Sable. It's a golden-plum colour with a bronze pearl finish to it and is a frost finish. Mac shadows are so pigmented and very buttery so they go onto the lids so easy with barely any fallout.
I've had my tangle teezer for quite a while but only now doing my first favourites I thought it deserves it's rightful place in my favourites as I use it everyday, between us I'm considering getting the tangle teezer aqua splash as they are just brilliant. I don't know if it's just me but I feel my hair is softer after using my teezer.

Now I know I have a very unhealthy obsession with nail polish and Essie nail Lacquer in particular. So choosing my favourite polish of the month was a toughy but before going on my Essie binge last week the two colours I was always reaching for happened to be After School Boy blazer which is a very dark almost black navy and Tart Deco which is a lighter coral (again with the corals! I can't help myself). I know the two colours are at completely different ends of the colour spectrum and from two different season collections but what can I say I'm a sucker for blues and corals. Along with my Essie lacquers I've been loving OPI matte topcoat and wearing it with every manicure. You can change up a manicure so much with the matte topcoat, it's brilliant and I highly recommend.

Going clothes shopping is something I enjoy but not as much a beauty product shopping is why I haven't got many fashion favourites this month but a trend I have been loving is the swing tops due to my love for this trend I have purchased 3 of this style of top in black, Jade and peach. Also I'm in love with my baggy light denim 'acid wash' jeans especially paired with my white hi-top converse and a swing top. I've been wearing that look quite a lot this month. I have one accessory favourite this month and that is my new person and I give you one guess at what colour it is, of course it is peach.

What are your favourites for this month?

March Non-beauty Favourites

I've split my beauty and non-beauty favourites up otherwise is was going to be one mega blogpost and nobody wants that. Now onto my non-beauty favourites because I have quite a few of them so I'll just get right to it.

My music favourites for this month are so different from my normal taste in music but these songs have been continuously playing on my iTunes this whole month.
The Pretty Reckless - Heaven Knows
Iggy Azalea - Fancy
Little Mix - Word Up!
Vance Joy - Riptide
American Authors - Oh, What a Life Album
Enrique Iglesias - I'm A Freak
I highly recommend you check out all the the songs and you will probably be hooked as well.
At the beginning of the year my daddio challenged me to do the 50 book challenge with him so I'm reading like 4 books a month to reach my goal by the end o the year (fingers crossed). So far it isn't going so well I'm only on book 7 when i should be on atleast book 12 mind you dad is only on book 2 although he is reading the Game Of Thrones books which explains why. Anyway I have a couple of book favourites this month and they are the complete Divergent Triology written by Veronica Roth and is based on a girl Tris in a dystopian Chicago where society is split into 5 different factions (Abnegation, Dauntless, Amit, Candor and Erudite) to achiec true peach and follows Tris through her experience of choosing a faction, I highly recommend all 3 books (Divergent, Insurgent and Alligent) they were that good I read all 3 within the one week of half term. The next book that is earned it's place in my favourites is Legend by Marie Lu again a dystopian societ because they are the only books I'm reading at the moment as they are brilliant! Check out goodreads.co.uk to have a look at the plot then get downloading from Amazon!

Now the reason I read Divergent happened to be because the Movie was being released this month and obviously I had to go and see it as the books where amazing. So that's what I did, it was obviously the film wasn't going to be completely true to the book as it is an adaption of the book but wow the film just blew my mind even-so Shailene Woodly who plays Tris and Theo James who plays Four had such a beautiful onscreen chemistry. However there were somethings that were a bit rushed and I was sat thinking how, what, why did that just happened - maybe that was due to the fact that it was only recently I'd finished reading the books.

I watch quite a few TV shows and a lot of American TV but these series' have just taken the cake. The plot has grown and there are some 'on the edge of my seat' moments in every show I mention and I advise you got check all these out.

The Fosters
Switched at Birth
Once Upon A Time In Wonderland
Pretty Little Liars
Dallas

A Spring Date...?

The spring time is the time for cute dresses, shoes and pink/berry lips and what a better way to combine all three than on a date?
The velvet dress is something completely new and instead of going for the 'little black dress' option you can choose this gorgeous red velvet dress which allows you to still be classy and cute at the same time. Pair the dress with some flat cut-out sandle/dolly shoes if you're not comfortable with heels. Tied all together with the clutch which matched your shoes and has a gold detachable strap if you don't want to use it as a clutch which will hold your fabulous MAC pink/berry toned lipstick. Don't forget to give yourself a classic black manicure to finish off the whole look.

Velvet Dress - Topshop £19.99
Beige Shoes - Topshop £32.00
Clutch Bag - New Look £12.99
Lipstick - MAC Coral Bliss £15.00
Nail Polish - Essie Licorice £7.99

I hope this is gives you some inspiration for your next date

Walking With Frenchies

Back in 2012 Echo and Diesel had their second litter (which I did a post about not so long ago). Anyway last Saturday one of the pups from that litter (Dixie aka Miss Ellie) came up with here new owner for a little walk with her mummy and daddy. It was such a lovely day the sun was out but still a bit windy however that's to be expected with British weather (boo!). The 5 of us (me, mum, dad, shell and Helen) went for a stroll around Barton Hills which is a 2.6 km dog walk with sights to look at, horses to watch and streams to jump over.
Anyway here are some of the pictures from that walk Diesel is the black one, Echo is in the red harness and Dixie has a little pink harness on.

do you ever take your dogs out on walks like this?
if so give me some recommendations please :)

I Heart Spring Tag

I love this tag it's so fun and interesting to see everyone else's different responses to all the questions. My lovely Paige was kind enough to tag me in this post and I thank her for it as I really enjoyed answering the questions

Favourite Spring Nail Polish?
Oooo it's a toughy! I have so many new spring nail polishes but I think Essies tart deco takes the cake.

What is your must have lip colour this spring?
I don't really wear lip colours but I must say Topshop's Macaroon is on my Spring wish list. It's the perfect peachy/coral colour and look perfect with my skin tone and hair colour.

Show us your favourite spring dress
I'm a dress kind of gal but I have a very spring appropriate floral kimono that I love.

What is your favourite flower?
I'm a tiger lily sort of person well any sort of lilies really. The just look and smell so darn nice

 Favourite spring scarf/accessory?
Well now it is the spring time the beanies go away for another year :( mind you I didn't get much use out of mine this year! Although it is now the season for the shades so they are my favourite spring accessory

What spring trends are you most excited about this year?
Mom styled anything! finally some trousers/shorts that you can wear without worrying that your legs look big because the jeans/trousers are tight or that your bum is hanging out of your shorts.

What's your favourite spring candle?
Patchouli and Bergamot, it's fresh but still that little bit of sweetness seeps through

What's your favourite body spray/ perfume for spring?
Jennifer Lopez Love and Glamour, the scent is so fresh it is perfect for the spring time

What is spring like where you live?
Living in England you can't really predict the weather especially in the spring time. You don;t know whether you'll get the sun and or the pouring rain. The majority of the time in my little town it's average not too warm and get a bit of rain occasionally.

What is your favourite thing about spring?
I don't want to be cliche here and say the blooming flowers or the start of the nice weather so I won't. My favourite thing about spring is Easter for one because there are always so many creme eggs out and about, yum and Spring wardrobe shopping!

 Are you a spring cleaner?
A spring cleaner, hells no. Isn't that what mums are for? Only kidding I'm only a spring cleaner when it comes to swapping out my winter wardrobe for my spring/summer. That's enough seasonal cleaning for me.

Any plans for spring break or an upcoming vacation?
No and no. I'm an A-Level student at sixth form so exams are coming up I will be eating chocolate and revising through my Easter Holidays and in response to an upcoming vacation I am moving to Australia in September if that counts?

I want to tag Katie, Hanna and Olivia
what things this spring are you most excited for?

What's In My Bag? Home Edition

One of my favourite YouTube videos to watch are 'What's In My Bag' as I like to be nosey. I'm thinking I might do a School Bag Edition if that's something you're interested in?

Anyway shall I get to it so you guys can be nosey and see what's in my day bag?

Right, so my little bag isn't anything special not one of these designer 'What's In My Bad' post, sorry to disappoint. However my little beauty is from Peacocks that's right and it was only £12 can't be complaining about that.
It is a black patterned satchel with a long detachable strap so you can use it as an oversize clutch if you wanted to. The bag has two compartments which is separated by a little divider. You can keep quite a lot in this little guy. Although I don't really carry that much just the essentials and some other rather peculiar items.

So the contents of my bag are as follows: my purse, a water bottle, Burt's bees hand cream, lip balm, my keys, some hard boiled sweet, hand sanitiser, my iPod, a pen and a piece of fruit (normally an orange, I did say peculiar) and when I'm going out for the day with the girls I take powder and a brush can't be shiny.

I have to have my iPod and headphones with my at all times when I'm going out so it is constantly swapping from bag to bag (poor iPod). Only so if I have to walk on my own which is quite often I'm not bored so I can just blast some tunes or stick on an audio book. You'll find when you don't have a pen with you, you'll for some reason need a pen and that is why there is always a pen in my bag and the black BIC pens that I use are the best type of pen (just saying).

Carrying hand cream is just second nature to teenage girls as you'll never know when your hands will be dry and when they do get dry bam you have hand cream to moisturise them, being a girl is handy! As for the boiled sweets I don't really have a legitimate reason other than because I like them. Actually mum always keeps boiled sweets in either the car or in her bag so I picked up the trick from her. If you're like me and you don't like using public soap dispensers/sinks then hand sanitiser is the way forward. Plus you can choose the scent you're hands smell like afterwards, mine is the Soap and Glory Hand Maid and just smells of goodness (by goodness I mean grapefruit and sugar).
Obviously every girl needs her purse on her and this purse is only a recent purchase from New Look and was an absolute bargain! I paid just £5 on sale for this little beauty. I have a sudden love for this light pink/peach colour can you blame me though it's such a gorgeous colour!

A tip I learned from a couple of my colleagues (I work at my local gym) is to carry around a water bottle with you as you never know you could get stranded and need and drink and oh there you go a bottle of water. Keys are quite ordinary I don't need to explain how they work but yes I do have a papa smurf key ring on my keys. Right I know having a orange in my bag is a rather odd thing to keep at all times but if I'm ever hungry and in need of a snack I don't need to pay for anything and this way it is healthy as well, justification right there.

So what weird and wonderful things do you keep in your bag?

My Spring Manicure

Recently I went on a little trip to my local boots and went on an Essie binge (as you know from my previous blog post). So I've been slowly testing out different combinations and found this one to be my favourite at the moment. I say at the moment because let's face it I'm going to by new spring nail polish and find a new favourite combination but eh who cares?

When I'm giving myself a home manicure I always start my filing them and creating a nice round shape (as you do). Taking my buffing cuboid thing I follow the steps on it until I'm finished. Don't forget to push those cuticles back when giving yourself a manicure and for that I recommend the Burt's Bees lemon cuticle cream it keeps your cuticles hydrated therefore easier to push back and doesn't hurt either.

Now onto the best bit the actual nail painting. I start off my using China Glaze's strong adhesive base coat and when it says strong it really means it. My nails last a good 3-4 days before chipping with this bad boy. Then I apply 2 coats of Essie's Mint Candy Apple and 3 coats of OPI All Sparkly And Gold for it to be completely opaque.
After applying the nail polish it's onto the top coats; I used China Glaze's Patent Leather Top Coat over OPI all sparkly and gold and OPI matte top coat over mint candy apple for the matte effect.
I have one more little nail care secret to share and that's China Glaze's Fast Freeze Quick Dry formulation and that stuff is the bomb as soon as you are done applying it your nails are touch dry. You have two options in the application of the fast freeze quick dry you can either paint it on with the brush or you can drop it on using the pipette they give you.
I highly recommend all the products I mentioned above especially the colours as a combination, it is Spring nail paint perfection!

what is your ideal spring manicure?

Oops I Did It Again...

So all of you who know me are aware of my slight obsession with all things nails and 2 brands in particular Rimmel London and Essie.
Over the past couple of weeks I have accumulated a few new bottles to my collection which have all been on my to buy list. 6 new shades have found their way into my rather large collection which brings the total up to at least 60 (wow, I do have a lot!)
Rock The Boat
Tart Deco
Fiji
Just to clarify I normally only buy Essie when they are on sale and that is what I happened to do yesterday in Boots. They had a 3 for 2 offer on across all beauty and nail products so of course being the nail polish addict I am I took full advantage and when straight to the Essie stand. As it is spring it is time t
Sparkle On Top
o crack out those pastels we have been hiding away and then I realised I didn't actually have any pastel colours (sad face). So purse came out and now I have 6 new spring appropriate colours. Quite a few of these are cult favourites and I don't know why it has taken me this long to get my hands on them.

Mint Candy Apple
Lilacism

Right so the colours that I got in the 3 for 2
were Fiji (pastel pink), Mint Candy Apple (pastel green/mint), Sparkle On Top (clear iridescent sparkles) and Lilacism (pastel lilac).
What I found when applying some of the shades (yes I have already tested them all) they need 3 coats to be opaque but that is really only with Fiji and Rock The Boat. Also to let all you nail lovers that Boots have quite a few Essie gifts sets which retail at £13.99 and the newest sets in store at the moment include the 2 new Lux effects shades Sparkle on Top and Jazzy Jubilant so go get you some as they are selling fast!

What is you favourite Essie shade?

Some Call Them Jesus Shoes, I Call Them Toms

If you know me then you know I have a slight fascination for shoes of any kind, flats or heels - if you can wear them on your feet then I love them. But since 2012 I've been wearing Toms whenever the weather is nice enough to wear them as they are canvas.
Anyway last summer purchased the red stripey Toms to join my black ones and yesterday I walked into schuh empty handed and walked about with a brand new pair of Light Grey Toms.
You can say whatever you like about Toms but I think they are the worlds most comfortable shoes on this Earth and they do a very good thing for the third world countries. For every pair of Toms you purchase they send a pair to a third world country so a child has a pair of shoes.
The price of Toms range from £35 to £50 depending on which style you choose.
The classic slips are £35 and the prices start to increase after that the classic stripes are £40, classic crochet are £42, classic knit are £45 so it really depends on the style you are after and what you feel comfortable in. I personally love the classic slips as they look visually appealing and I normally go for the very boring colours so they go with everything but then I style the outfit with a gorgeous necklace!
I most likely not going to stop at just 3 pairs there are still plenty of Toms I have my eye on and it is just only a matter of time.

do you have any Toms?
if you do, what do you think of them?

The Book Cake Tag

Reading this from A Little Bit of Literature's Blog I thought I would give it a go.

It takes on the element of baking a cake but replacing the ingredients with books that fit that category. Alright enough waffling and time to get on with the tag.

Flour - A book that started off slow but picked up as it went along

I would definitely have to say Game Of Thrones by George R.R. Martin it took me forever to get through that book I just kept getting bored throughout as the plot started to slow down but the last few chapters got me hooked and now I'm reading the series.

Margarine - A book that had a really rich and great plot
Hunger Games seems to fit this category the most packed full of drama, action, plot twists, romance, dystopian worlds and a bit of adventure how could you not love it. There were somethings you didn't expect and some things you could predict but this is definitely a marathon worthy book so if you haven't got yourself a copy of The Hunger Games - go get you some!

Eggs - A book that you thought was going to be bad but ended up quite enjoyable

When I downloaded Beautiful Creatures onto my kindle I had heard mixed reviews so I can't say I thought it was going to be bad but then I didn't think it was going to be good either. But how wrong was I, by the end of the I realised I had ended up quite enjoying it due to the mix of paranormal and romance (2 of my favourite genres of book). Mind you as you went through the series I felt the books enjoyment decreased especially during the last book in the series Beautiful Redemption.

Sugar - A sweet book

Sophie Kinsella's Confessions of a Shopaholic has all the elements of romance and plenty of will they won't they's. The plot thickens throughout the 5 books but still maintaining the omg so cute factor of the book so I was kept happy.

Icing - A book that covered every single element that you enjoy in a book

Fault In Our Stars. John Green is a writer who also does YouTube so check out his channel out TheVlogBrothers. Anyway this book has the perfect combination of funny moments, cute/romantic/quirky moments and extremely sad which induces crying moments and a absolutely brilliant plot with and unexpected twist!

Sprinkles - A book series that you can turn to for a little pick me up

The series has to be Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling. That woman is a pure genius there are so many pick me up moment throughout the series. Like when Harry is going through Diagon Alley for the first time or when Harry sends his own sons to Hogwarts. This series is my childhood so why wouldn't I turn to this series for a little pick me up.

A Cherry On Top - Your favourite book of the year so far
This is a no brain Divergent. Veronica Roth created my perfect book and with Dystopian world books being my new favourite to read I just couldn't put it down at all. In fact I loved the book so much it was finished within 2 days and the trilogy was completed within the same week. I highly recommend this triology plus the movie adaption is released on the 4th of April so get reading. I could have put this book in so many other categories but it earned its rightful place as my favourite book.

I TAG YOU!

Rose Gold Michael Kors Watch

Back in April 2013 my Grandma left my mumma some money to get herself something for her birthday and the one expensive item mumma wanted last year was the elusive Michael Kors watch. One weekend mumma and I hopped in the car and took a little trip to paradise also known as Bicester Village. Bicester is the one place that all purses/wallets fear and money goes to die as it is a designer outlet. This means that they legally have to sell all products with at least a 40% discount so you can imagine why everyone visits leaves broke.
Anyway mum purchased this beautiful marble effect metal beige and gold watch and while she was making her mind up, me being me was in a world of my own admiring all things Michael Kors especially the rose gold watches, right then and there I had made my mind up on what I wanted my birthday present to be.

Only a few short months later it was time my 17th birthday, it was the best day ever I had recently got my AS-Level results and passed the majority of my subjects (who cares about physics - not me!), I was legally allowed to begin to learn to drive and I was going out for a lovely meal with my family later in the evening. It is a Pollard family tradition to open all birthday presents in my parents room and what did I receive from mumma and daddio my Rose Gold Michael Kors watch eeeeekkkkkkk!
Right now down to the technical it is a 4 faced 18ct Rose Gold with two bands of swarovksi crystals which personally gives it a very girl touch (who doesn't want a watch with crystals?!). The 4 different faces all tell you different things obviously. The main face obviously tells you the 12 hour time, the smaller face on the right gives you the date, the middle face gives you the 24 hour time and the face on the left tells you the day.
All in all this is one practical watch whilst being very glamours at the same time - it's just a very beautiful and glamorous watch to be honest.

Have you got your eye on a Michael Kors watch?

13. Dope
14. Gypsy
15. Applause

Marry The Night had been the last single Lady Gaga released before Applause and that was November 2011 so Gaga had a nice year and a half to work on her newest ARTPOP which is dominating the charts at the moment.

With 3 singles already released from her album the Gaga is going strong and lets be honest we are all excited to see what she does with the Venus and Do What U Want videos, you cannot help but watch even if you aren't a fan, am I right?

Although the majority of her album is a masterpiece there are 2 tracks from the album that don't tickle my fancy those being Aura and Dope they are just not my jam. If you have listened to them then you'll know what I mean. For instance Aura the track starts off with a peculiar intro and you are sat there thinking to yourself ah not to worry this is only the intro BUT you are wrong! It's the whole damn song, you're sat there waiting for the beat to kick in and it never does (sad times).

Other than that one negative - the album is still truly great! Some of my favourite tracks would be Venus, Donatella, G.U.Y and Gypsy. I highly recommend you get onto iTunes and download yourself a copy while it is still hot.
