The Studio's are about a 45 minute drive away from the area I live in, unfortunately I had to spend the time in the car with Rach and Deeya (only kidding it was a fun car journey).
As soon as I walked into the studio's I was in complete awe! On the right there was the gift shop, the left Starbucks and in front of us were pictures of all the main cast from all the films. We cued to go through to the Great Hall Tour for about half an hour an in the time we were cuing we saw Harry's iconic cupboard under the stairs - seeing all this just brought back memories of my childhood. I grew up with Harry Potter and Harry Potter and the philosophers stone was the first book I read. As you can imagine I had very high expectation for the tour; I had been there for 30 minutes and was not disappointed what-so-ever!
Once as we went through the doors to the tour we went into this room of the all 8 movie posters. Suddenly we heard a voice, this voice started telling us the process of publishing the Philosophers Stone. Being taken back to my childhood excited doesn't even being to explain how I was feeling at the time. After we entered a small room it was more like a cinema, we watched a quick video including Dan, Emma and Rupert explaining how Harry Potter is a part of their lives which they will never forget! Behind the screen were the doors to the Great Hall. To our surprise it was the exact Great Hall that was used in all the HP films. Inside the Great Hall were costumes from the iconic characters from each house including Harry's first years uniform. After we left the Great hall we got to do our own thing at our pace. The girls and I split up from Rach's parents so we could also go round the tour at our own pace. We came across the Champions Ball set and costumes first, just to put it out there Emma Watson's waist is so bloody tiny! We then moved on past costumes, makeup, the decrees, Gryffindor common room, the Horcrux's, how they filmed Quidditch then we cued to get our picture taken whilst riding a broom - how cool?!
After we had our broomstick pictures taken and paid for we saw some more costumes and sets but this time of the dark lord and his death eaters, it was really fascinating to see how much work went into producing the costumes. The next part of the tour was actually outside and to our luck it was a lovely day. To my amazement a butterbeer stand was outside and of course to complete the Harry Potter experience you have to enjoy a nice cold glass of butterbeer. It was a little different to what I was expecting but I'm not complaining as it was so damn good! Privet Drive also happened to be outside as well, obviously we all took advantage of this and had quite a few pictures taken outside this iconic Harry Potter set. The final part of the tour took place in another being and included all information about how they made all the CGI, animatronics, goblin masks as well as how they came about making all the different sets. After we came to the one and only Diagon Alley, I was in complete awe for a good 5 minutes there was so much to take it no amount of time happened to be long enough to appreciate all the hard work that went into creating this amazing set!
The last section of the tour including white card models of all the props, modern art of Harry Potter and artists' painting of the world of Harry Potter. The last attraction though was just breathtakingly beautiful, I could have spent hours looking at it - there are no words to describe our reaction to the Hogwarts castle. Just take a look for yourself. All the shots we see in the films of the outside of the castle come from this exact model. It took builders 40 days to take apart this model bring it to the studios in London and then rebuild it again - they even had to wear hard hats (makes me laugh everytime).
I definitely recommend everyone who gets the chance to go on the tour to go. You will not regret it i can promise you that and if you do it will just be a nice day out with the family.
Also checkout Pottermore you can follow the books online, find out new things you don't get told in the books, plus you get sorted into a house (I'm a Slytherin just to put that one out there) and you get given you own wand. You can spend countless hours on there having fun I promise you.
Hope you enjoyed reading something new
